Lighthouse

On Sundays (during term-time) we have  a  Children’s  Club  (Sunday School) held in the Parish Room, starting at 10.30 am.

Come along and have lots of fun getting to know God through games, Bible stories, craft, songs, activities, praying and more!

Lighthouse is for children aged 3-11.

Ground Breakers

We meet every Sunday morning at 9.45 at St Mary’s Church, Portreath. We welcome all children over 4 years old,  with an adult, if younger. We have bible stories,  games, songs and crafts . We do not meet when Café Church is on, but children are very welcome at Café Church, when there is a colouring competition.

Open the Book

Open the Book is an initiative supported by the Bible Society where local churches take Bible stories into their local primary schools.  St Illogan and St Mary’s churches, together with churches from the Methodist Redruth circuit,  have  3  teams  who   go into Illogan and Portreath Schools and perform to a full assembly.   Adult  Storytellers  have  great  fun  dressing  up in sheets and tea towel headdresses and there is an unlimited supply of child volunteers eager to take part in the production!  The children  and teachers really look forward to our visits and for many children this is the only chance they have to hear Bible stories.  Does this sound like your type of thing?  You would only need to commit to one performance a month in an afternoon assembly – each performance lasts about 10 minutes. If you don’t want to act we also need some ‘back room people” to make props.  Things  like  boats,  free standing  doorways,  giant fish, armour, chariots etc. All need to be lightweight and easily assembled  as we only have 10 minutes to set the scene and dress the children!
