St Illogan Music
The music in the church is quite varied ranging from traditional through to very modern. The main services in the church are led by a mixed choir SATB (soprano,alto,tenor and base) comprising of 12 choir members, under the leadership of Michael Semmons Organist and Choir Master. Who is backed up by Andrew Negus, Assistant Organist and Choir Master.
Throughout the year the choir sings for many weddings and funerals, they also attend the annual choral festival in Truro Cathedral.
Michael Semmons

Michael started his music as a chorister in St Andrews Church Redruth under the directorship of Captain Charles Nicholas, with whom he studied piano.
Michael later went to St Mary's Church Penzance for two years to study organ with Donald Behenna, and he completed his studies spending five years at Truro Cathedral with Simon Morley studing (organ, music, composition & improvisition).
Michael was appointed assistant organist in 1992 under Saskia Wild, and then organist in 1994 when Saskia Wild retired.
Andrew Negus

Andrew was taught the piano with Mrs Ruth James A.L.C.M from the age of 8. He then had electronic organ lessons with Agnes Jane for a time and then went on be taught the Church organ at Centenary and Voguebeloth Methodist Churches with Mr Billy Williams L.T.C.L from the age of 15 .

There is also a music group who leads the afternoon tea time service comprising guitars, drums and many other musical instruments, Andrew Negus ( Assistant Organist ) accompanies this service either on keyboard or Organ.
