New Roof for the Parish Church
but it's only there for a few months
On August 16th a giant crane moved into Illogan Churchyard to lift a temporary roof into place.

Under the protection of this impressive structure, contractors will now be able to remove the old roof slates and gain
access to the ceiling, which has caused us so much concern in recent years.
The plan is to coat the exposed plaster with a resin that will stabilize it, preventing it from falling out of the laths and
endangering the folk below.
The supporting scaffolding is certainly impressive and one begins to understand why this project is costing a third of a
million pounds.

Work is scheduled to continue into next year, though we are hoping to return to the building for our Christmas services.
