Carols in the Snow as Illogan lights up
Thanks to a small group of hard-working residents, Illogan has a brightly lit Christmas Tree, around which we gathered to sing carols.!

The grand Switch-On took place on
December 11th, when crowds far greater
than we dared to imagine blocked the
road to join in the celebrations. Illogan
hasn’t seen anything like it in years!
Children from Illogan School sang songs,
a group from the Robartes Arms sang
carols and Mike Kippax did his best to get
everyone singing. And of course, Father
Christmas was there too!
Afterwards, in the Robartes Arms, they
were serving mince pies and mulled wine,
proving beyond all doubt that here was
the Illogan community at its very best
working together and having fun.
Many others helped in both an advisory
capacity and practically, and finally we
salute all the residents of the village who
either bought raffle tickets or donated
money to assist in buying the lights for
the tree.
None of this would have been possible
without the inspirational work of the
following, to whom we offer our sincere
thanks – Alan Hughes Jones, Mary
Knowles, Maggie Gerry, Caroline Smale,
Jennie Tonkin and Jeanne Pulin.
