Teatime’s Tenth Birthday

The Teatime Service on Sunday afternoons at the Parish Church has been
running for ten wonderful years.

Our pioneering all-age service started as a three month experiment, backed by three families. More than 500 services later, the format is unchanged.

From the outset we wanted a half hour service where families could worship , rather than being separated into ‘church’ and
‘Sunday School’. We also hoped to stem the loss of young folk who (at the age of about 11) felt too old for Sunday School, and in this we have been fabulously successful.

Over the past ten years bishops have written about it, churches have copied it, and children have grown in the Faith and become adults. We have exported members to Scotland and even Spain as numbers have risen and fallen, and risen again. And now the work we do for our Lord continues into its second decade.
