Lord de Dunstanville
revisits Trevenson

According to the history books, Lord de Dunstanville of Tehidy died in 1835.
However, he appeared to be alive and well for Trevenson Church’s 200th
Birthday celebrations on July 4th.

In truth, his lordship did looksuspiciously
like the Rector incostume, but he gave a
most lordly speech to launch the festivities,
before mingling with the 21st century
crowd. As well-wishers ate their way through delicious Cornish creamteas
they were entertained by

Lanner & District Silver Band and the
Carn Brea Morris Men, whilst those
who ventured inside the church were
treated toan amazing Flower Festival
There was a display of news from 1809,
which included reports that John Luke of
Redruth needs a blacksmith,

a threshing machine is for sale through
Camborne post office, Redruth
School is open for the education
of young gentlemen and Illogan Chapel
has a fine newaltar pieceby the rising
artist John BryantLane.(It still has!) It was
also reported that Napoleon had just made
the Pope redundant!
