The Parish Church resounds to Pyramid Rock
Could this be the desert wastes of Egypt? No, it’s the west end of the Parish Church – the perfect spot to pitch a tent!

The Great Pyramid of Giza, long sought by intrepid travellers to Egypt, has recently appeared in St Illogan Parish Church.

Monica and Viv, with their usual flamboyance, led over fifty young people on the adventure of a lifetime. Pyramid Rock tells the story of Joseph, who starts out as a favourite son, then incurs the wrath of his brothers and is sold as a slave in Egypt, but finally ends up as Prime Minister of the country.

Through drama, craft, film and fun, the young people have been discovering that, just as God had a plan for Joseph, so too he has one for each of us and is there to help us.

Each day began with the young people dividing into age groups and developing their own collage. The journey continued with themed songs and forfeits for the adult leaders, voted by the young people.

The Oasis Cafe opened half way through the morning to serve the intrepid explorers with refreshing drinks and snacks.

Captain Ketchup (aka Mike Firbank) led everyone in silly dances and read out jokes supplied by the young people.

The Holiday Club drew together Christian leaders from several churches and is a wonderful example of us all being one in Christ Jesus. Special thanks are due to Phil who masterminded the technical stuff.
