Scouts plant a Centenery Tree

"Look what we've done!"

The 1st Illogan Scout Group have planted a Rowan tree in St Illogan churchyard, marking one hundred years of scouting.

“Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have lots of fun doing things that boys wouldn’t normally do with their families,” explains Scout leader Bob Dash. Well it’s certainly not every day that boys get the chance to plant a tree. Hopefully it’ll still be growing here when their great great grandchildren celebrate the second centenary of scouting.

Illogan’s Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet on Friday nights in Illogan School, starting with the Beavers at 5.30pm and ending with the Scouts, who head for their homes at 9pm. They’re always on the lookout for new members, so to find out more contact Bob on 01209 212741.

The 1st Illogan Scout Group is a lot less than a hundred years old. One of their original members is a regular worshipper at the Parish Church and a member of his family is in the picture below.
